Drop a PDF to split

Split it by page ranges, every few pages or into single pages, or pick the pages to extract. Nothing is uploaded.

Split a PDF into several files, or pull out the pages you need

This PDF splitter breaks one PDF into smaller ones the way you describe: by page ranges such as 1-3, 5, 8-, into chunks of a fixed number of pages, or into one file per page. Or switch to Select, click the pages you want on the thumbnails and save just those as a new PDF. Pages are copied without re-rendering, so nothing loses quality, and the file never leaves your device.

How to split a PDF

  1. Drop a PDF on the page or choose one.
  2. Pick how to split it: Ranges, Every N pages, Each page, or Select to choose pages by clicking them.
  3. For ranges, type something like 1-3, 5, 8-. The thumbnails show which output each page goes into.
  4. Press Download. One output downloads as a PDF; several arrive together in a ZIP.

Ways to split

Ranges
One PDF per range. 1-3, 5, 8- gives three files: pages 1 to 3, page 5, and page 8 to the end. A range can also start open: -4 means pages 1 to 4.
Every N pages
Cuts the document into equal chunks — every 2 pages for double-sided scans, every 10 for a long report. The last file holds whatever is left.
Each page
Every page becomes its own PDF, named after the original with the page number added.
Select
Click pages to choose them, Shift-click to choose a run, and save the selection as one PDF — the quickest way to extract pages from a PDF.

Nothing is re-rendered

A split file is not a picture of the original pages. Each page is copied with its own text, fonts, images and links, so the result is as sharp and as searchable as the source, and usually much smaller than the whole. Document-wide features such as bookmarks and fillable form fields are not carried into the split files.

Output files are named after the original: report-pages-1-3.pdf, report-page-5.pdf, so they stay in order in a folder.

No upload, no limits

The splitting happens in your browser with pdf-lib. Your PDF is not uploaded anywhere, there is no account and no watermark, and there is no page limit beyond your device's memory. Once the page has loaded it even works offline.

Frequently asked questions

How do I split a PDF into separate pages?
Drop the PDF, choose Each page and press Download ZIP. You get one PDF per page, numbered after the original file.
How do I extract specific pages from a PDF?
Choose Select, click the pages you want on the thumbnails (Shift-click selects a run) and press Download PDF. The selected pages are saved, in order, as one new PDF. Typing a range such as 4-7 under Ranges does the same for a continuous run.
What range format can I type?
Page numbers and ranges separated by commas: 1-3, 5, 8-10. An open end runs to the last page (8-) or from the first (-3). Each range becomes its own PDF.
Is my PDF uploaded?
No. The file is split in your browser on your device and is never sent to a server.
Does splitting reduce quality?
No. Pages are copied as they are, without re-rendering or compression, so text stays selectable and images keep their resolution.
Is it free?
Yes. There is no sign-up, no watermark and no limit on pages or files.
Can I split a password-protected PDF?
Not until the password is removed. Open the file in a PDF reader with the password, save an unprotected copy and split that.
