Combine PDFs into one file, in the order you choose

This PDF merger joins two or more PDF files into a single document right in your browser. Drag the files into order, or switch to the page view to move individual pages between them, rotate a sideways scan or drop a page you do not need. Pages are copied across exactly as they are, so text stays selectable and searchable, and images keep their original quality. Your files are read on your device and never uploaded.

How to merge PDF files

  1. Drop two or more PDFs on the page, or choose them with Choose PDFs. You can add more at any time.
  2. Drag the files into the order you want, or use the up and down arrows.
  3. To rearrange single pages, switch the view to Pages: drag pages anywhere, rotate them or delete them.
  4. Name the file and press Download PDF. To make the result smaller, send it straight to Compress PDF.

What is kept, and what is not

Each page is copied from its original file together with everything it draws with — fonts, images, vector graphics — and the links on it. Nothing is rasterised or re-compressed, so a merged PDF looks exactly like its parts and is roughly the size of their sum. Fonts and images that one file uses on many pages are copied once, not once per page.

Some things belong to a document rather than to its pages, and a merged file cannot inherit them from several sources at once: bookmarks (the outline in a reader's sidebar), fillable form fields, the document title and other metadata are not carried over. If you need a form to stay fillable, fill it in before merging.

Files or pages

Files view
Each PDF is one row. Reordering here moves all of a file's pages together — the fastest way to put chapters or invoices in order.
Pages view
Every page is a thumbnail, labelled with the file it came from. Drag pages across files, rotate them a quarter turn or remove them.
Undo
Every page edit can be undone with the undo button or Ctrl/⌘ + Z.

Private by design

Most online PDF mergers upload your files to a server, process them there and send the result back. This one runs entirely in your browser with pdf-lib and pdf.js: the files are never sent anywhere, there is no account and no watermark, and it keeps working without an internet connection once the page has loaded. That makes it safe for contracts, bank statements and anything else you would rather not hand to a stranger's server.

Frequently asked questions

How do I merge PDF files into one?
Drop the PDFs into the merger, drag them into the order you want and press Download PDF. The pages of every file are combined into one document in that order.
Is this PDF merger free?
Yes. There is no limit on the number of files, no sign-up and no watermark on the result.
Are my PDFs uploaded to a server?
No. The files are read and combined in your browser, on your own device. Nothing is sent over the network.
Does merging reduce the quality?
No. Pages are copied as they are, without re-rendering or re-compressing anything, so text stays sharp and selectable and images keep their quality.
Can I change the order of individual pages?
Yes. Switch to the Pages view to see every page as a thumbnail, then drag pages into any order, across files too, rotate them or delete them before saving.
Are bookmarks and form fields kept?
No. Bookmarks, fillable form fields and document metadata belong to a whole document and are not carried into the merged file. Links on the pages themselves are kept.
Can I merge password-protected PDFs?
Not directly. Encrypted pages cannot be copied, so remove the password in a PDF reader first and then merge the unlocked file.
How large can the files be?
There is no fixed limit; it depends on your device's memory. Files of a few hundred megabytes in total merge fine on a typical laptop.
